December 31, 1996 - BBC Essential mix with Carl Cox and José Padilla at Cream, Liverpool



A New Years eve BBC Essential mix special,  recorded at club Cream, with legends Carl Cox and José Padilla. Also behind the decks this night were host Pete Tong and James Barton, who founded Cream club together with Darren Hughes and Andy Carroll in October 1994.

In 1991 the Spanish DJ and producer José Padilla started DJing at the Café del Mar bar in Ibiza. He compiled the first six Café del Mar albums (1994 till 1999) and is considered responsible for popularizing electronic ambient music, specifically the Balearic beat sound.

In 1998 he released his first solo album Souvenir followed by Navigator (2001), Binary Sun (2013) and So Many Colours in 2015.
