Michael Kilkie

 

The Scottish DJ Michael Kilkie, also known as Umboza, is best known from the Tunnel Club in Scotland where he was resident DJ for years. He was also resident DJ at Freefall, Atomic Baby, Inside Out and Privilege and he also guested at Homelands, Glastonbury, Ministry and throughout Europe and the world. In 1993 Michael DJ'ed at the massive Fantazia Big Bang party at the SECC in Glasgow.

Michael has cultivated a captivating yet unique sound, blending tuff trance with smooth and deep progressive vibes to produce a vibe that can't fail to fill dancefloors. He also produiced a number of dance records, with the most successful reaching number 13 in the UK charts, leading to an appearance on Top of The Pops.

In 2002 alongside his sister, Michael opened a restaurant called Mezzaluna in Ayr.  After building it up in to a successful and busy restaurant they sold it in 2005 to fund Michael’s new venture, the award winning Jefferson restaurant in Kilmarnock. He still is working as a chef nowadays.
